Excerpts from paper, "Telecom Survivors!"
"Liberalization and privatization of government-owned telecom operators in many countries around the world not only led to massive influx of capital in the telecom sector but also introduced a global dimension to competition. Today, a British company (Vodafone) is a major investor in the largest American wireless carrier (Verizon); Japanese giant NTT Communications owns Verio, a major web hosting and IP operator based in the U.S.; and Telefonica, the Spanish giant, operates networks in many countries of Latin America. The list of examples is endless; suffice it to say that the winds of change in the telecom world are blowing as strong in Bangkok and Buenos Aires as in Brussels and Boston."
"So, the mantra is simple: grow and prevail, or … perish! "
